Speech Analyst is the workplace of the researcher who works with sound. The program processes wave files and works with Speech Database. While working with the base it is possible:
To control the list of sessions of the announcers;
To see the list of realizations at each session;
To remove one or several sessions;
To remove one or several realizations inside a session;
To save the chosen realizations or the entire sessions;
To hear the chosen realizations or the entire sessions.
The audio signal can be overlooked in a separate window with the opportunity of:
Scaling and scrolling horizontally and vertically;
Allocation of signal sites with an opportunity of recording a WAV file;
Reproduction of signal entirely or its allocated part;
Arrangements and moving of borders of phonemes for the chosen phonetic model;
Calculations and displays in a separate window of the Fourier-spectrum of the allocated site.
You can benefit from the function of automatic signal segmentation. It is enough to enter a transcription of a word, and the program will determine where each phoneme begins and ends. For the calculations connected with audio signals the mechanism of computing modules (Feature makers) is realized. Each module is a separate COM-server, which communicates with the Speech Analyst through a standard interface.
The modular principle of the system allows to expand the programs' opportunities to carry out individual tasks. Thus, in general, it is not necessary to restart Speech Analyst, and furthermore – to recompile it. Various kinds of digital filters, Fourier and wavelet analyses and original algorithms of the developers - all this is available as modules.
For a convenient presentation of the work results OLE-automation of Microsoft Excel is used. Receive the table with numbers, construct a series of diagrams and three-dimensional spaces, carry out statistical analysis of the data - all this is possible to do with the help of the Speech Analyst. Information in all windows is synchronized and displays any changes in real time.
